Every keystroke we type is cached, every photo we take analyzed, people we interact with identified,
things we like interpreted — so that we can be profiled better.

We are Cached, and so are you.

Projects

In Progress : Cached Household

We are aiming to develop the ‘Cached Household’, a series of quirky connected home devices that replace and expand the functionality of a WiFi router to teach us about the internet in a creative, tangible, and accessible way. We hope to create an ecosystem of communal care where people might learn about developing better online hygiene or observe their data usage from a more global perspective.

In Progress : Dissected Fragments

‘Dissected Fragments’ is a series of workshops that will physically engage with our forgotten data leftovers. We will invite people to bring their old, unused personal devices, disassemble them, and recover pieces of data hidden under layers of hardware.

Cached Experience, 2018

The Cached experience takes a physical approach to personal digital data, engaging with the repercussions of our individual online presence. The Cached experience will give you a glimpse at how computers have learned to view us and the assumptions they make.

What We Do

Experiences

We want to collaborate with cultural, public, and private sectors to find tangible forms for raising questions around data. Cached is available for exhibitions, festivals, conferences, internal workshops, you name it!

Talks

From facial recognition, to psychometrics, algorithms are moving beyond quantitative data in an attempt to make more holistic assumptions about us, the people. By demonstrating how data can be captured in everyday life and deployed for analytical and marketing purposes, we stress on the urgency of further enhancing individual and communal data literacy.

Workshops

To extend and solidify the scope of the Cached Experience, we offer creative hands-on workshops of various duration and formats, supported by informative presentations and critically engaging follow-up discussions. Our activities are aimed at fostering general data awareness, and can be adapted to suit more domain-specific topics such as the impact of algorithms in the domains of human resources, future of work, insurance, etc.

New Projects

If you are interested in raising questions around technology in a tangible and immersive way, we are looking forward to hearing from you. Our collective skills range from art and design to research and writing, from engineering to software development. We are always interested in new commissions, private endeavors, or something entirely different.

Are you interested in raising questions and awareness around data and
technology in a tangible, friendly and immersive way?

Cached Collective

The Cached Collective is an international group of creatives of diverse backgrounds, who are dedicated to exploring how technology influences our individual lived realities. Because of the impenetrable way that modern technology functions, we strive to design impactful experiences that can be easily understood by a wide audience. We make the intangible tangible. We
create impactful experiences that delve into data, algorithmic complexity, and obscure infrastructure, especially focusing on how these affect the individual.
